Great Effort by Alfaro Wasted in 9-6 Yankees Loss
The home team gave the crowd at Metropolitan Stadium something to cheer about.

New York (A) got a terrific game from catcher Jorge Alfaro. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Minnesota, 9-6. Alfaro went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Minnesota has now won 6 in a row.

Making an impact for Minnesota was third baseman Eddie Lake. Sparky drilled a run-scoring double off Gary Gentry in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Lake went 1-3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs.

"Guys seem to be putting together some really nice at-bats right now," said Twins manager Dan Hornbaker.
