Late Rally by Expos Locks Up 4-3 Win
|
The Expos grabbed a win, 4-3, at Miami Park, overcoming a fine effort from Miami pitcher Bob Brown. Brown went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Dave Boswell. His record now stands at 9-5. The right-hander went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Expos. Montreal has now won 3 straight, while the Marlins have lost 3 in a row.
Had Adam LaRoche not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, LaRoche hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Expos.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Montreal skipper Marwan Najdawi.
