Mariners Earn 6-5 Win Against Yankees
The Seattle Mariners defeated the New York (A) Yankees, 6-5, in 12 innings at Rogers Centre. Don Mattingly produced 1 single and 4 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Max Macon in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Mike Schooler took the loss. The American League-leading Mariners are 48-29.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 12th. With two out, Mattingly hit a fastball from Mike Schooler for a run-scoring double. The Mariners, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Mattingly, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
