Astros Sunk by Mets
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York (N) Mets and Houston Astros.
New York (N) starter Ray Bare pitched well against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Bill Gogolewski was credited with the save for New York (N), his 25th of the season.
New York (N) used a well-timed hit by Dick Allen to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
Allen called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
New York (N) has now reeled off 7 straight wins.
