The Houston Astros faced a tough opponent in St. Louis pitcher Kevin Morton, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Busch Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Morton went 8 innings and allowed 5 runs. Blake Parker closed it out for his 3rd save. Houston is off to a hot start at 5-2.

Eduardo Escobar came through for Houston when he hit a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a two-strike fastball to left-center field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.

After the game, Houston manager Claybor Finley applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
