Down to Defeat Goes Milwaukee, 5-3
|
Chicago (N) pitcher Henderson Alvarez III did his part in helping his team beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Matt Albers closed out the game, earning his 5th save. Milwaukee's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Jack Rothrock had a big 2-run home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago (N) leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Blaine Boyer and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 4-1.
"Henderson had good arm action, good stuff," said Chicago (N) manager Matt Ida.
