Williams Homers Twice in 13-6 Rangers Win
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 13-6, at Busch Stadium. Texas was led by 21-year old left fielder Billy Williams, who was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Texas now owns a record of 27-40.
Texas third baseman Luis Valbuena contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 62nd hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 5-2.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Williams.
