The Colorado Rockies pinned a convincing loss on the St. Louis Cardinals, 11-1, at Coors Field. Johnny Edwards was a main factor in the win. He was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times for Colorado . The victory gives the Rockies a record of 34-31.

Fernando Martinez had a big 2-run home run for the Rockies in the bottom of the second inning. With Colorado leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Kevin Morton and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Rockies on top, 3-0.

"Not much went right for us," St. Louis manager David Mandel said, when asked afterward about the game.
