Marlins Take Down Astros, 2-1
|
The Miami Marlins and Houston Astros put on a pitchers' duel.
Miami Marlins pitcher Dick Ellsworth was in top form, leading his team past the Houston Astros, 2-1. The victory puts Miami at 25-37.
Jim Pendleton drove in one run for Miami. The 31-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Mike Oquist. It was his 31st RBI of the season.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Ellsworth after the game.
