Montreal Slaps 7-3 Loss on San Francisco
The Montreal Expos trumped the San Francisco Giants, 7-3, at Stade Olympique. Montreal first baseman Adam LaRoche was terrific. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times. Pat Caraway picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-2. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. James Kaprielian earned the save for Montreal, his 1st of the year.

The Expos got a big at-bat from right fielder Rafael Palmeiro. For the game, Palmeiro was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Montreal a 3-0 lead.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said LaRoche after the game.

The Expos now have a record of 35-26.
