Brewers Throttle Yankees, 6-1
|
Milwaukee Brewers starter Ed Hanyzewski pitched a good game to help his team take down the New York (A) Yankees, 6-1. Milwaukee bumps their record to 29-32 with the win.
Bobby Cox had a big 2-run home run for the Brewers in the top of the fifth inning. With Milwaukee leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from Teddy Higuera, who finished 5th in the NL in ERA with 2.90 in 1992, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Brewers on top, 3-0.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Milwaukee manager Mike Ejercito. "That's what Ed is right now."
