Mariners Deal Red Sox 4-1 Loss
|
Seattle pitcher Andy Benes did his part in helping his team defeat the Boston Red Sox, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Rocky Coppinger, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities. Seattle has now won 9 in a row.
Alex Avila, who led the NL in on-base percentage with .402 in 1986, had a direct impact on the outcome. Avila contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Seattle up, 4-0.
"We're playing like a well-oiled machine right now," said Mariners manager Tyler Jorgensen.
