The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Detroit Tigers eked out a 3-2 win versus the Minnesota Twins at Metropolitan Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Ken Brett. He was terrific. Brett got the win, improving to 5-4. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Victor Alcantara collected save number 1.

Detroit needed the clutch hitting of Paul Casanova to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers on top, 3-1. For the game, Casanova had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Both teams played hard," said Detroit manager Don Dinsmore.

Minnesota has now lost 5 consecutive games.
