Expos left fielder John Hale left his mark on his team's 9-5 win over the Colorado Rockies. Hale, who is tied for 9th in the NL in home runs with 14, went 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Montreal in the contest. Montreal starter Dillon Gee was credited with the win after throwing 118 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 4-3. By defeating Colorado , the second-place Expos improved to 33-22.

Paul Janish went 1-3 with a walk for Montreal. The three-time Great Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring single off Gerry Janeski. It was his 30th hit of the season.

"We maximized our offense today," said Montreal skipper Marwan Najdawi. "That makes everyone's life easier."
