Giants Upend Rangers, 5-3
|
San Francisco Giants starter John Candelaria pitched well against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Candelaria, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Garrett Olson collected save number 14.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Robin Ventura to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said San Francisco manager Jake Fegan. "It's usually not just one thing."
