Mets Held in Check by Guardians, Lose, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the New York (N) Mets and Cleveland Guardians get after it.
Cleveland turned a good effort from starter Oral Hildebrand into a win over the New York (N) Mets at League Park. The Guardians won the game, 5-1. Hildebrand yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-5. Camilo Doval picked up the save for Cleveland, his 1st of the year.
Josh Naylor hit a 2-run double off Paul Erickson in the bottom of the third, which put the Guardians in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Naylor had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
Cleveland manager Barry Jackson commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
