Miami first baseman Derek Bell contributed significantly to his team's 9-4 win over the Boston Red Sox. Bell, who finished 4th in the AL in extra base hits with 84 in 1996, went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Marlins. Miami is now 23-31, Boston 21-35.

Making an impact for Miami was right fielder Alex Dickerson. Grandpa drilled a double off Roy Oswalt in the top of the second. For the game, Dickerson went 1-5 with a double.
