Twins Victors, 4-2, at Houston
|
The Minnesota Twins topped the Houston Astros, 4-2, at Minute Maid Park. Minnesota right fielder Gene Kingsale was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. Mike Gardiner earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 3-2. Ramon Hernandez collected his 1st save.
Minnesota used the hitting of Taylor Trammell to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Twins on top, 2-1. For the game, Trammell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Trammell attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
