Seattle Sends Chicago (N) Packing with 3-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago (N) Cubs, pitcher Dustin Hermanson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Seattle right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Mariners win. The second-place Mariners lifted their record to 31-24.
Seattle used a well-timed hit by Don Mattingly to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Dustin did a good job of managing their lineup," said Seattle manager Tyler Jorgensen.
