Foster Edwards, who is tied for 10th in the AL with a 7.4 K/9 rate, was locked in. The right-hander led the Cleveland Guardians to a 6-5 win against the New York (N) Mets at League Park. The win was credited to Hayden Wesneski in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Don Drysdale took the loss. Cleveland, now 22-31, holds down 8th place in the American League.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Josh Naylor was at the plate when Cleveland scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Guardians to go in front, 6-5.

"Foster is a gamer," said Cleveland manager Barry Jackson.
