Detroit Nets 5-4 Win Versus Astros
|
The Tigers grabbed a win, 5-4, at Minute Maid Park, overcoming a fine effort from Houston pitcher Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. The Tigers saw their win-loss record go to 27-22. At the same time, the Astros fell to 25-26.
Dan Johnson, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1998 draft, helped out the Detroit cause in the top of the ninth inning with a 3-run home run. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Johnson. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
