The 2001 season did not get off to quite the start the Texas Rangers had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Globe Life Field. The final score was 11-6. Center Fielder Adam Jones was the top performer for Milwaukee. Ed Vosberg snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Jesse Litsch suffered the loss.

Bobby Cox was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Milwaukee. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Leiter Jr.. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"We came out aggressive," said Brewers manager Mike Ejercito. "We came out swinging the bats."
