Expos Post 8-4 Win Over Philadelphia
|
The Montreal Expos picked up a win at Veterans Stadium, knocking off the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-4. On the mound for Montreal was left-hander Pat Caraway. He played a key role in the triumph. Caraway picked up the win for Montreal, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. The save was credited to Danny Patterson, his 5th.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Rafael Palmeiro to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Expos ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Palmeiro told the Montreal Chronicle.
With the win, the Expos improved to 28-19.
