In a tension-filled contest between the Miami Marlins and the Arizona Diamondbacks, pitcher Boom-Boom Beck was superb. The Miami right-hander, who is tied for 7th in the NL with a 8.3 K/9 rate, spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. David Robertson closed the game out for Miami, earning his 10th save. The Marlins now have a mark of 20-28.
In his 105-pitch effort, Beck allowed no runs on 1 hit over 6.2 innings. He walked 3 and struck out 8.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Beck said.
