Red Sox Drop Twins, 7-5
|
The Boston Red Sox outlasted the Minnesota Twins, 7-5, in 11 innings. Vern Stephens provided some punch at the plate for Boston. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The Red Sox are now 17-31.
The decisive blow was delivered by Tom Lampkin in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Gardiner to win the game for Boston. The home crowd went nuts.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Stephens.
