Cleveland Beaten, 4-2, by New York (A)
The New York (A) Yankees got a stellar performance from pitcher Kevin Ritz, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Yankee Stadium. Ritz, now 6-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Yankees improved their record to 20-23 with the win over Cleveland.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Julio Lugo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cleveland pitcher Ken Giles, he hit a 2-1 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting New York (A) on top, 4-2.

"Kevin was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said New York (A) manager Brett Fogerson.
