Mets Squeeze By Miami, 4-3
The New York (N) Mets picked up a win at Miami Park, taking down the Miami Marlins, 4-3, in 13 innings. On the mound for New York (N) was right-hander Cory Bailey. He played a central role in the triumph. New York (N) pitcher Clay Carroll earned the win, hiking his record to 1-2. Ben Blomdahl suffered the loss. The victory gives the Mets a record of 34-9.

New York (N) won the game in part because of Jeff Kent. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-3. For the game, Kent had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Miami manager Bobby K.
