5-3 Astros Win over Cubs Evens Season Record
|
The Houston Astros earned a win at Minute Maid Park, knocking off the Chicago (N) Cubs, 5-3. On the bump for Houston was right-hander Mike Oquist. He had a starring role in the triumph. Oquist got the win, improving to 2-4. He gave up 8 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The save was credited to Blake Parker, his 14th.
Houston catcher Brayan Pena contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Astros ahead, 4-0.
"Mike was aggressive right out of the chute," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
The 5th-place Cubs have lost 4 consecutive games.
