New York (N) Dealt 2-1 Defeat
Miami starter Bob Brown put a stranglehold on the New York (N) offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Marlins to a 2-1 win. The save was credited to David Robertson, his 9th. Miami, at 19-23, sits in 9th place in the National League.

The Marlins got a big boost from shortstop Jim Pendleton who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Mets hurler Paul Erickson. It was his 21st RBI of the season and put Miami on top, 1-0.

"I made a lot of good pitches," said Brown. "I was right where I wanted to be."
