Great Effort by Jones Wasted in 7-5 Brewers Loss
The Texas Rangers withstood a fine game by Milwaukee center fielder Adam Jones at Miller County Field, to upend the Brewers, 7-5. Jones hit 3 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored three times. Texas reliever Ted Abernathy got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Greg Bollo was tagged with the loss. The Rangers, at 17-25, have now won 5 straight.

Texas needed the clutch hitting of Eugenio Suárez to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers on top, 7-5. For the game, Suárez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Suárez. "You've got to get results."
