Wells Goes Distance in Cleveland Win
|
David Wells, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in complete games with 2, was brilliant in helping Cleveland beat the Boston Red Sox, 5-1. Cleveland is now 19-23, Boston 15-28.
The Red Sox had few good swings against Wells, the left-hander, who threw 128 pitches over 9 innings. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits.
"David made some big pitches when he needed to," said Guardians manager Barry Jackson.
