Expos Turn Away Mets, 3-2
|
The Montreal Expos knocked off the New York (N) Mets, 3-2, in National League action at Shea Stadium. Montreal pitcher and Baltimore, Maryland, native John Dopson had an outstanding performance. New York (N), with the loss, is still a robust 3-1.
Adam LaRoche, who finished 5th in the NL in slugging percentage with .650 in 1999, had a direct impact on the outcome. LaRoche contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Montreal up, 3-1.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Jamie Dagostini.
