Twins Nipped by Rangers, 6-5
|
Texas beat Minnesota at Metropolitan Stadium, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to center fielder Eric Davis. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. The winning pitcher was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Ken Chase. He tossed 108 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits. Earning his 8th save for Texas was Felix Heredia.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Joe Vosmik? The Texas designated hitter had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-1. For the game, Vosmik had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Texas manager Kyle Shea was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
Texas is 14-25 and Minnesota, with the loss, 16-22.
