Diamondbacks Take Down Phillies, 5-4
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4, at Chase Field. Jordan Schafer, who is rated as the 95th best prospect by BNN, was a standout performer for Arizona. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Shawn Tolleson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-2. Arizona now has a record of 18-18 with the win.
Had Tucupita Marcano not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Marcano hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Diamondbacks.
Schafer told the Arizona Observer: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
