New York (N) Mets starter Don Drysdale found his groove in his team's 6-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. New York (N) reliever Jay Powell picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Joe Genewich was saddled with the loss. The Mets improved to a lofty 30-5.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Beau Bell? The former first round draft pick Bell stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put New York (N) up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Don is one tough son of a gun," said New York (N) manager Jamie Dagostini.
