Kemp, Rockies Wallop Mets in Game 5 of LCS
Colorado right fielder Matt Kemp was the key at Coors Field, as he powered the Rockies to victory in a critical Game 5 of the League Championship Series. The Rockies took the 6-1 win over the New York (N) Mets to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

There was more than one reason the Rockies beat the Mets, but Kemp's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kemp.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 21st , 2001 at Shea Stadium in New York.
