Expos Clip Rockies, 4-3, in DS Contest
|
The Montreal Expos took down the Colorado Rockies by the score of 4-3 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Divisional Series. The largest share of the credit belongs to Montreal starter Doug McWeeny, who threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball.
One of the clutch hits for Montreal came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with no one out, Billy Goodman, who finished 5th in the NL in batting average with .351 in 1999, hit a run-scoring single to put the Expos up, 4-0. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said McWeeny.
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 7th , 2001 at Coors Field in Denver.
