Choi Blasts Mets, Diamondbacks Take Game 5, 7-3
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York (N) Mets, winning, 7-3, at Chase Field. Diamondbacks designated hitter Hee-seop Choi was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Diamondbacks to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Choi hit a fastball from Bill Lee for a 2-run single, putting Arizona up, 5-0.
Choi said his team "played with determination."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 11th , 2001 at Shea Stadium in New York.
