New York (N) Pins 9-4 Loss on Arizona
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of right fielder Frank Robinson, the New York (N) Mets stopped the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-4, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. Robinson went 4 for 4 with a triple, 3 doubles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Mets, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Jeff Kent, who finished 2nd in the NL in doubles with 49 in 1995, helped out the New York (N) cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 3 runs.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Arizona manager Alex Baxter.
Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Chase Field in Phoenix.
