Game 5 was big. So was Logan Gilbert.

The Seattle starter rose to the occasion at Tiger Stadium, leading the Mariners to a crucial 4-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers. Gilbert threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball as the Mariners won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.

Gilbert confounded Detroit hitters. Over 8 innings, he allowed 1 run on 3 hits.

"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Gilbert.

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Rogers Centre in Seattle.
