Houston Triumphs with Late Surge
The Houston Astros locked up a win at Shea Stadium, knocking off the New York (N) Mets, 7-4. On the mound for Houston was right-hander Mike Oquist. He played a major role in the triumph. Blake Parker earned the save for Houston, his 11th of the year. Today's win puts Houston at 16-18, while New York (N) falls to 29-4.

Houston used a timely hit from Brayan Pena to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Astros ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Mike did a good job of managing their lineup," said Houston manager Claybor Finley.
