|
Behind a solid performance from second baseman Stu Martin, the Houston Astros defeated the New York (A) Yankees, 7-4. Martin hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Astros. Luis Castillo, the winner, goes to 4-2. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Blake Parker was called on to finish, recording his 10th save.
The Astros got a big at-bat from left fielder Carl Reynolds. For the game, Reynolds was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Martin.
With the win, Houston boosts its record to 15-17.
