Robinson Powers Mets to 7-1 Win
|
The New York (N) Mets extended their winning streak.
The New York (N) Mets beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-1, at Shea Stadium. Frank Robinson, who is on pace for 157 RBI this season, starred for New York (N). He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Nabil Crismatt. He tossed 108 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Jay Powell earned the save for New York (N), his 3rd of the year.
In the bottom of the third, six-time All-Star Charlie Moore hit a 2-run home run. The 1st home run of the season for the New York (N) catcher put the Mets on top, 2-0.
"We'll enjoy this hot streak as long as it lasts," said Robinson.
At 27-3, the 2001 Mets have been nearly flawless so far.
