New York (A) Sent Home with 4-1 Loss
Houston took on New York (A) in front of a lively crowd.

The Houston Astros went home winners at Minute Maid Park, thanks in large part to starter Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks stifled the New York (A) Yankees, enabling Houston to grab the 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Hendricks, now 2-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4.

Melky Cabrera went 1 for 3 for Houston. The two-time Great Glove Award winner had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gary Gentry. It was his 10th RBI of the season.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Houston skipper Claybor Finley. "I can't complain."

The Yankees drop to 11-18 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2001 season.
