Cardinals Handle Boston, Snag 4-1 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals wanted a good start from Kevin Morton -- and he delivered one. The result was a 4-1 St. Louis win over the Boston Red Sox at Busch Stadium. The save went to Joe Genewich, number 7 for him. The Red Sox fall to 12-19 and continue their sputtering start to the 2001 season.
Whitey Herzog, who is rated as the 33rd best prospect by BNN, took Boston hurler Aaron Small deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Cardinals on top, 2-1. In all, Herzog had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Morton.
