Rangers Suffer Blowout Loss to Phillies
|
The Philadelphia Phillies pasted the Texas Rangers with a convincing 11-2 defeat at Globe Life Field. Johnny Lucadello was a prime factor in the Philadelphia win. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Philadelphia starter Tommy Boggs was credited with the win after throwing 119 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 1-3. The setback makes the Rangers 11-18.
The Phillies got a big hit from left fielder Sixto Lezcano. Facing Texas pitcher Ted Abernathy in the top of the eighth, Lezcano pounded a 3-run home run to left-center. His 8th home run of the season put the Phillies ahead, 9-2.
"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Kyle Shea.
