Diamondbacks Rally Late to Nip Twins

The Arizona Diamondbacks overcame a pretty good performance by Minnesota first baseman Norm Siebern, beating the Twins, 5-4, at Metropolitan Stadium. Siebern was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win belonged to Chuck Cary in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jesse Crain took the loss for Minnesota. Shawn Tolleson nailed down his 2nd save.
Daulton Varsho, who is tied for 7th in the NL in stolen bases with 8, helped out the Arizona cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the left fielder was 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
Varsho attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
The loss makes Minnesota 11-18.
