On Road, Seattle Drops San Francisco, 5-3
Seattle pitcher Andy Benes did his part in helping his team beat the San Francisco Giants, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Bobby Jenks was called on to finish, recording his 7th save. The Giants fall to 13-15 and continue their wobbly start to the 2001 season.

Seattle took a 4-2 lead on Wendell Magee's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Magee hit in the top of the seventh, left San Francisco pitcher Esteban Loaiza visibly frustrated.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Benes.
