Narrow Win Takes New York (N) Streak to 9
|
The Mets earned a hard-fought, 2-1 win in 10 innings at Shea Stadium. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Boston pitcher Brad Halsey. Halsey went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Early on, the Mets, at 23-3, have excelled.
The Mets got a clutch hit from third baseman Argenis Diaz. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Mets.
"When you put in the effort and you get really focused, the results come in ways you're not even expecting," said Mets manager Jamie Dagostini.
