Giants Even Record with 6-3 Victory
|
The San Francisco Giants withstood an impressive performance by Milwaukee right fielder Dale Murphy to defeat the Brewers, 6-3, at Eclipse Park. Murphy went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Phil Ortega was the winner. He's now 2-2. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Brewer. The save went to Garrett Olson, number 7 for him.
Johnny Rizzo had a big run-scoring double for the Giants in the bottom of the second inning. With San Francisco leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from Tom Brewer, who is tied for 7th in the AL in quality starts with 3, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 4-2.
"Today was a lot of fun," said Rizzo.
The win lifts San Francisco to a record of 13-13.
